My Story

Michelle Lilly Briscoe
Michelle Briscoe is a native of Chicago Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Knox College, in Galesburg, Illinois where she majored in Russian Language and Literature, with a minor in theatre. Mrs. Briscoe is currently a retired educator having served in Dallas Independent School District, and a local charter school for 22 years. She also served as a broadcast specialist during her tenure with the Dallas Independent School District. Her passion for languages has enabled her to travel to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia.
In her community, Michelle has been a member of Bible Study Fellowship International for 38 years. For the last 22 years, she has served as the Teaching Leader for the Dallas – Southwest, Texas Evening Women’s class, where she teaches over 950 women weekly. She earned her master’s degree in Christian Leadership from the Dallas Theological Seminary in May of 2023.
Her awards include the: The DELLA Award for Distinguished Educator (2023); The DELLA Award for Christian Education (2023); Inspire Women Scholarship for Perseverance (2021-22), A.W. Blair Award for Christian Leadership (Concord Church), Golden Apple Teacher of the Year (Mark Twain-DIsD), Rotary Teacher of the Year Award for Service Beyond Self (Mark Tein-DISD), and the Russian American Center Teacher of the Year Award (Russian American
Center-Dallas). Because of her work in DISD as a broadcast specialist, Michelle was the 2005 and 2006 recipient of the Lone Star Emmy Award.
Michelle has been a member of Concord Church for the past 47 years. At Concord she served as the founder and director of the Children’s Praise Dance Ministry (Jubilee) for 28 years until 2024. She presently serves as a deaconess (39 years). She also served as former consultant for the Drama Ministry. She loving volunteered for the girls mentoring program, “Rites of Passage Program (ROPP For Girls), for 20 years. Michelle has authored chapters in two upcoming book releases: (1) “Telling Our Stories”; (2) “Woman to Woman – Part 2. She is currently writing her own book project: “Clutch the Pearls”.
Michelle is also featured in Priscilla Shirer’s lasted book, “I Surrender All” (Chapter 6-“Everything You Face”). Michelle and her late husband, Lloyd, were married for 42 years (1977-2019). They have two adult sons - Lloyd Edwin, II (Brooklyn, NY) and Shannon Gerard (Dallas). She continues to live by faith, trusting in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
For over 50 years, Michelle has persevered with visual challenges. In His grace, God has enabled her to (a) answer His call to teach the Scriptures, (b) train Christian leaders, (c) minister to women and children, and (d) lead in the cause of Christ. Her passion is God’s Word and the joy of walking in it. Michelle’s life scripture is II Corinthians 12:9-10, But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor. 12:9-10
